Donald Wendell Ulsh, age 88 of Burnsville, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2015 at his home. He was born on Oct. 20, 1926 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Brooks Eli Ulsh and the late Alice Mae Ferguson Ulsh.

Don was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a member of Liberty Covenant Church and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He loved his dog "Maggie", gardening and was an avid sports fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Donald W. Ulsh, Jr.; and 4 sisters: Winifred Ulsh, Shirley Mentzer, Pauline Moose and Joyce Hurley. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Louise Groover Schumacker.

Survivors include: daughter, Patty Parker and husband Auburn of Burnsville; 2 sisters: Helen Noss, and husband Howard, and Audrey Morrow, all of Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Memorial services were held at 1pm on Saturday August 22 at Liberty Covenant Church. Memorilization was by cremation.

The family requested memorial donations be given to Hospice of Yancey County.

Yancey Funeral Services were in charge of the funeral arrangements.

He also has a headstone and memorial #59608800 in the Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeff Davis County Georgia. He was married and divorced from Eloise Sinclair Ulsh. He is not buried there.
