Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island, where she had been a member for 52 years. The Rev. Ivan Fuller will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church or Pathway Hospice.
The former Loretta Iverson was born April 12, 1912, in Rock Island, the daughter of Richard and Edith Benke Iverson. She married Oliver W. Gordon in 1930 in Monmouth. He died in 1974.
She had worked in the mailroom at the Augustana College Union and retired in 1982.
Loretta enjoyed being with her family, sewing, making silk flowers and reading.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Frank Sample, Geneseo, and Carole and David Appelquist, Milan; grandchildren, Daniel Sample, Geneseo, Doug Sample and his wife, Becky, Davenport, Patricia Pearson and her husband, James, Milan, Elizabeth Hall and her husband, Scott, Silvis, Julene Waterman and her husband, Milt, Viola, and Deborah Black; and six great-grandchildren. Her parents, sister, brother and a great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
