Juanita Carter
September 15, 1932 - August 21, 2019

Juanita B. Carter, affectionately known as Bee, was born to the late Jeanette Durant and Willis Brown on September 15, 1932 in Richmond, Virginia. She received her education through Richmond Public Schools. Her high school of choice was Maggie L. Walker.
Juanita was married to the late Richard Carter, Sr. and was the mother of five children, four sons and one daughter.

Juanita retired from her job as a building inspector for the state. Even though she slowed down from working, she never stopped her devotion to her faith. The Holy Spirit led her to the Sharon Baptist Church where she was baptized by Rev. R. H. Johnson. Juanita became active almost immediately. For over fifty years, she supported the C. B. Belcher Memorial Usher Board and the Pastor’s Aid Ministry. She was a faithful servant, always ready and willing to serve when and wherever she was needed, until her health made it unbearable to continue.

Juanita loved to dress. She would accessorize any outfit with matching hats, scarves, flowers, jewelry, shoes and purses. From head to toe, she strutted in style! She also had a fondness for taking pictures. If you needed or wanted a picture of a relative or friend, more than likely Bee would have one. Children touched Juanita’s heart in a special way. She loved them all, and to all of them she was “Aunt Bee”.

Juanita was also preceded in death by two sons, Earl L. Brown and Larry Edward Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Richard and Marty (Barbara) Carter; daughter Althea Carter; three sisters, Jeanette Walker (Freeman), Sarah Bell and Vanessa Brown; sister in law, Carolyn Brown; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; other family members and friends.
