Barbara Jean Parks, age 81, of Dayton, OH passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019. Barbara was born on August 21, 1938. She was the daughter of James and Mary (Shock) Long.

Beginning in 1964 when Kettering Health Network was founded, Barbara began her career as a medical clerk for Kettering Health. For the next 50 years, she developed a wonderful network of work-friends that were so close and special; she would refer to them as her second family. Barbara was also an active member of the Centerville Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she enjoyed being part of the Women's Bible Ministry.

Barbara was a wonderful mother and grandmother that would do anything for her kids and grandkids. She would always put her family before herself. When her kids were younger, Barbara would enjoy passing the time and entertaining her children by watching and playing along with the TV game shows. Everyone she knew will miss her bright smile, beautiful sense of humor and quick wit.

Barbara leaves behind a beautiful living legacy consisting of her loving children, daughters, Katherine Jo (Jeffrey) Parks-Atherton, Kelly Jeannette (Matthew) Parks-Cecil, Kimberly Jill Parks; sons, Joe (Renee) Parks and Jeffrey Allen Parks; sister, Patricia Ann Smith; uncle, Buddy Long.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, James Long and grandson, Aaron Brady Atherton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, 10:00 am to Noon at the Centerville Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 456 W. Spring Valley Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45458. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at the church with Pastor () officiating. Burial will take place in the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton.
