James David Renner, age 73 of Parrottsville, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Parrottsville. James was a 1964 graduate of Parrottsville High School and received his Educational Specialist Degree from East Tennessee State University. He began his 30 year teaching career at Bridgeport Elementary School where he also coached the boy’s basketball team. He also taught at Parrottsville High School and Edgemont Elementary and coached football at Parrottsville prior to his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed deer hunting. He was also a former member of the Cocke County Legislative Body (CLB).

He was preceded in death by his father U.L. Renner.

Survivors include his mother Ida Belle Renner; brother Garry (Debbie) Renner of Parrottsville; sisters Brenda (Wilbur) West of Greeneville and Susan (Mickey) Blazer of Morristown; nephew Joseph (Hongjuan) Blazer of Mt. Juliet; nieces Crysta Blazer of Morristown, Ida Ruth (Jason) Naillon and Janet Renner of Parrottsville; great-nieces Annabelle Cox of Morristown, Ella Rhee Naillon and Jada Naillon of Parrottsville; additional survivors include several cousins and his special hunting buddy Harold Blazer of Parrottsville.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm, Friday, September, 6, 2019 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 pm on Friday in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Blanchard and Rev. Harvey Evans officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 7, 2019 in Faubian Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Blazer, Justin Sane, Jonathan Sane, Tony Blazer, Ella Rhee Naillon, and Annabelle Cox.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Parrottsville High School Class of 1964.
