89, of Newcomerstown died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. She was born Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1921 in Athens Co. to the late John and Doris (Heavener) Bradley. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Education Degree from Ohio University and a Masters Degree from Bowling Green State University, She taught school in Morgan, Co. and then retired from teaching and moved to Newcomerstown in 1984 to work for her sons, Ron and Greg at Bowman's Sports Wear. She was a member of St. Francis DeSales Church of Newcomerstown. She served the church as a lector, organist, member of the church council and various church clubs. She was passionate about her service and would perform outreach such as reading the Bible at the rest home. She loved playing cards, bowling, golf and sports in general. On Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1941 she married Clyde Ross Bowman, who died July of 1968.
She is survived by four children, John Rockne Salsberry of Dickinson, Texas, Ron Bowman and wife, Pam, of Lake Arrowhead, Ga., Gregory Bowman and wife, Sue and Janet Douglas, all of Newcomerstown; one stepson, Jerry Bowman and wife, Jean of Chester Hill; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Lois Bowman of Rokeby Lock. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Legg; daughter-in-law, Eva Salsberry; son-in-law, Gus Douglas; stepson, Dick Bowman.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 15, 2011 in the St. Francis DeSales Church in Newcomerstown with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be Monday Feb. 14, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. with Wake Services at 7:45 p.m. in the Addy Funeral Home at Newcomerstown. Burial will follow in Chester Hill Cemetery at Chester Hill, Ohio.
