Son of Prince 11 and Phebe Merrethew Godfrey, Brother to Ruth, and (Prince 111, was married to Pricella Beldon, He lived on Duck Creek,until the death of his wife, he then moved to this township where he married Eunice White Emerson, Children by his first wife were Louisa drown in the river at Devols Benjamin, Samuel, and Joseph were also children by his first wife.

Eunice White and Samuel Godfrey were married 25 Feb 1824 in Morgan County, Ohio.

They went on to have four children together:
Ezekiel Emerson Godfrey Abt 1925-1849,
Lemuel Godfrey Abt. 1827– 24 May 1849,
Priscilla Elizabeth Godfrey Abt. 1829–1849,
Anselm N. Godfrey Abt. 7 NOV 1831/7 DEC 1832 - 6 OCT 1849.
