Willie was the son of Sarah Hall and William "Wall" Cook.
After Sarah died newspapers reveal that her oldest son, Russell Hall (Willie's half brother) and her husband "Wall" Cook argued over her meager possessions and if Russell would help pay burial costs. Russell threatened to kill Wall.
When Russell came back with a gun, Willie tried to stop the shooting and got between Russell and His father right as Russell pulled the trigger. Willie was killed at point blank range.
Russell shot Wall in the arm and leg and then turned the gun on himself but the wound he inflicted did not kill him. He later killed himself in prison.
Willie was listed in the newspaper as a World War I veteran but I could only find his draft card.
