Pvt Joseph Adams

Civil War Union Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company G, 4th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 17, 1861. He served until he was discharged due to disability on September 6, 1862 at the United States Army General Hospital at Fort Wood, New York City Harbor, New York. He then served in a number of units. He served in Company H of the 4th Massachusetts Militia (a 9 months militia regiment), then in the 3rd Massachusetts Volunteer Cavalry, entering as a Sergeant in Company B, but ending as a Private in Company H. He lastly served in Company F, 1st Louisiana (Union) Volunteer Cavalry, entering as a Corporal, but being discharged as a Private.
