Charles was the son of Abner and Mary (Goss) Chase of Lempster NH. His father was a farmer and a merchant.

Married Anna Huse Wellman, daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Orne) Wellman of Lempster NH and had thee daughters. He was a licensed Methodist minister in active service for forty-six years in churches throughout New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He died in Edgewater Illinois.

He and wife were buried in Riverside in Plymouth NH.
