"Hortense A. Emory, 80, died at 10:55 a.m. Sept. 17, 1995 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born March 25, 1915 at Covington, the daughter of Barton and Ruby Bell Hasty Brewer. She married Charles L. Emory, Oct. 2, 1933. He preceded in death Nov. 12, 1989.

She was a life resident of Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She had been a cook at the former Rabb School.

Surviving, are: a son, Jack Emory, Covington; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with William Nickle officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday." - Fountain County Neighbor, September 19, 1995
