Evelyn Jacobs was born Evelyn Mae Jenkins to parents Bernice and Harold Jenkins on August 26th, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio and grew up in Dayton, Ohio. Evelyn went home to be with the Lord on July 16th, 2019 @ 10:09. Evelyn attended high school at Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio. In high school. Evelyn volunteered as a hospital candy striper and worked as a soda fountain jerk. Evelyn attended Northwest Bible College in Minnesota where she met and married the love of her life, Bob Jacobs, her husband of 56 years. Evelyn became a foster parent in 1955. Chuck Nelmark was the first foster child in Minnesota and with Evelyn for 8 years and George Kane of South Dakota the last in 1982 and with Evelyn for 10 years. Evelyn and Bob became missionaries under the American Baptist Missionary board after graduation from Northwest staying in Minneapolis, MN for several years before moving to Mission, South Dakota in the 1960’s. In South Dakota, Evelyn assisted Bob in their missionary work while being the foster mother to multiple Sioux Indian children and adopting their Sioux son and daughter John Paul and Deborah Ruth from the Pine Ridge, South Dakota Sioux reservation. Evelyn loved to sing and sang in multiple church choirs, sang solos at weddings and funerals and sang with her apartment’s community senior choir in the last several years. Evelyn’s greatest joy and motivation was her family. She is survived by John and Debbie Jacobs, son in law Charles Anderson, grandchildren Scott, Danielle, Aaron, Todd, Jordan, Marcus and John Robert and great-grandchildren Max, Charlie, Easton, Sawyer, Mason and Maddox.
