Melvin Ross Bell, Sr. age 91 of Bloomington passed away on August 13, 2019 at his home in Bloomington, IN. Melvin was born on August 9, 1928 in Bloomington, IN. He was the son of Lawrence and Pauline Bell, both deceased. He retired as a maintenance man from Indiana University.
He is survived by two sons, Melvin (Butch) Bell, Jr. of Solsberry, Denver (Denny) Bell of Stinesville. His 4 daughters Darlene and Terri Bell of Bloomington. Betty (Donnie) Davis of Ellettsville and Ruth (Dan) Keselich of Harrodsburg. 7 Grandchildren, 7 great – grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. One sister, Imogene Trombley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by the wife of 70 years Mary (Frye) Bell, one grandson, Jeremy Scott Bell, and 2 sisters Wilma Fleener and Betty Bell. 2 brothers – in- law John Fleener and John Trombley and one niece, Debbie Coffey.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Southern Care Hospice for their excellent care of their father with a very special thanks to Ron Hutchins and Jessica Pearson for the tender care they gave to their Dad throughout the end of his journey.
Memorial Contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Rd 37, Bloomington, IN 47401, with Rev. Ronnie Hinson and Rev. Bruce Kelly officiating. Burial Will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home & Crematory.
