Mrs. Powers was born on December 17, 1937, in Centralia, IL, a daughter of Walter H. and Alice E. (nee Short) Reitemeier. She married James J. Powers (Jim), who she met at Scott AFB, on November 2, 1958, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2005.
Carol is survived by a daughter – Tamra Staab and husband Tom of Tulsa, OK; a son – James Powers and fiancée Dara of Missoula, MT; and 2 grandchildren – Madison Powers of Edwardsville, IL and Olivia Powers of Missoula.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Walter and Alice Reitemeier; her husband – James Powers; and an infant sister – Donna June Reitemeier.
Carol loved and appreciated her family. She was grateful for the frequent visits and care provided by her daughter, Tamra, and the time she was able to spend with her son, Jay, and her granddaughters, Maddie and Olivia, who enriched her life with tremendous joy.
Carol worked as a secretary at the Clinton County Tax Assessor's Office. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle until she moved to Oklahoma in 2007. She then attended Redeemer Covenant Church in Tulsa.
Visitation for Mrs. Powers will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle. Graveside service will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery in Carlyle with Rev. Scott Schilbe, officiating. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Powers may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and will be received through Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle.
