Dale Slater Krog, age 85 of Tracy, received his angel wings August 28, 2019 at Prairieview Senior Living Community. Funeral at Tracy Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Diamond Lake Cemetery in Lake Benton

Dale was born September 26, 1933 to Jorgen and Selma (Jensen) Krog on the family farm in Diamond Lake Township of rural Lake Benton, MN. Born 2 months premature, his life course was determined by underdeveloped lungs which prevented him from traditional sports, farming with his father and entry into the military. Therefore, after being baptized and confirmed at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and graduating from Lake Benton High School in 1952, he attended Grandview College in Des Moines, IA and followed the path of a “city” job where he spent his life working as an insurance agent and was the President of the “Big I” (Independent Insurance Agents of Minnesota). His specialty was helping farmers with their crop insurance needs, and he very much enjoyed making relationships with local farmers. On August 16, 1958, Dale was united in marriage to Karen Kragh at New Grove Church of rural Hendricks, MN. Together they had two children, Lance and Carla. As a family, they enjoyed many vacations around the country, camping in their pop-up camper. In Dale’s later years, he continued camping with Karen in Florida and Texas. Dale was a very soft spoken, kindhearted and caring person and was proud of his 100% Danish heritage. He was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church where he served on the church board for many years. He was also a member of the Tracy City Council and served as a volunteer driver for the Tracy Ambulance service. Dale enjoyed golfing, working on documenting an extensive family genealogy, and playing bridge with Karen and many friends, as well as games of cribbage with his brother Glenn. He was a very proud grandfather to both Madelyn and Mason, going to as many events of theirs as possible, despite pushing through his physical struggles. Although he fought many medical adversities, especially later in life, he enjoyed a blessed 85 years.

A big highlight of Dale’s life was the years he spent racing cars through SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) where he drove the road tracks at Brainerd International Raceway, Road America at Elkhart Lake, WI and Blackhawk Farms, IL After his racing days, throughout the country he spent several years flagging competitive races from the podium bridge. Dale was passionate about all forms of racing, especially NASCAR, as well as specialty vehicles such as Audi and Corvette, and he was a member of the Audi Club of North America.

Dale is survived by his wife of 61 years Karen; daughter Carla (Steve) Thein of Owatonna; and grandchildren Madelyn and Mason. He was greeted in Heaven by his son Lance, parents, and brother Glenn.
