Gary Leroy Newman of Claremore, OK passed from this life Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was 73.
Gary was born July 15, 1946 in Miami, OK to Louie A. and Betty (Anderson) Newman. He had lived in Claremore for 32 years. Gary graduated from Miami High School Class of 1964 and attended N.E.O. A &M College in Miami. He had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Tulsa, OK as a switchman and was Assistant Fire Chief for Tri – District Fire Department in Claremore, OK. He had also served in the Oklahoma National Guard.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rita Jane Perry.
Gary married Judy (Gooden) Newman January 15, 1970 and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include 4 sons Gregory Todd Newman, Cory Scott Newman and wife Stephanie of Claremore, OK, Christopher Heath Newman of Lansing, KS and Joshua Matthew Newman and wife Crystal of Claremore, OK, 1 daughter Sara Stephanie Newman of Claremore, OK and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Jim Land will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, OK. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel.
