U.S. Veteran
Lee Raymond “Ray” Fisher, 89, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday afternoon, August 23, 2019, at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Ray was born September 19, 1929, on the family farm near Woodworth, ND, the son of Albert Sr. and Anna (Hochstetter) Fisher. He attended rural school in Paris township through the 7th grade and proudly earned his GED in 1978 at age 48. Ray entered the US Army on October 2, 1951, and was honorably discharged from active duty on August 19, 1953. He then served 6 years of Active Reserve.

On September 19, 1954, Ray married Florence Ione Matthews in Woodworth. After farming on the family farm for a couple of years, they moved to Jamestown where he worked various jobs, including North Dakota Concrete, bartending at the Crow’s Nest, and finally with the City of Jamestown until early retirement due to disability in the late 1970’s. Ray was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., lifetime member of the D.A.V. and also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting deer and fishing with family, canning his prized pickles, going to casinos, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his children, Jerry (Lora) Fisher, Bruce (Kathy) Fisher, Greg Fisher, and Debra (Mark) Bischoff; grandchildren, Ryan (Tawyna) Fisher, Rachel (Blake) Krapp, Jack (Meg) MacArthur, Alysia (Scott) Rufsvold, Amy Beth, Tiffany Fisher, Emily (Aaron) Olauson, Naomi Fisher Mitzel, Justin (Jenny) Fisher, April (Keith) Tompkins, Mandy (Mike) Ekren; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Maci, Adam, Evan, Molly, Zeniah, Ember, Logan, Jacob, Madisen, Kitara, Jason, Sidney, Trinity, Ethan, Catherine, Joseph, Mikaela, Kaleb, Jeremy, Ethan, Jenny, Aiden, Lily, Gracy, Keira, Adalynn, Connor, and Carter; brother, Albert, Jr. “Sonny” Fisher; sisters, Shirley Beteau, Lillian Spravzoff, and Peal Eck; and very special friend, Fran Diede.
