Margaret "Peggy" M. Barrett, 89, of Newville, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 in Green Ridge Village Healthcare Center, Newville.

She was born Saturday, December 07, 1929 in Long Island City, New York, the daughter of the late Timothy and Ellen (Murphy) O'Keeffe.

Peggy graduated from Boherbue National School in 1943.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Church in Shippensburg.

Peggy was a former member of the Women's Republican Club of Lancaster and President Emeritus and Founder of the Children's Friendship Project for Northern Ireland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Timothy O'Keeffe.

Peggy is survived by her son: John P. Barrett of Carlisle; her granddaughters: Kimberly Twoomey (Shawn) and Cathy Barrett; her great-grandson: Tyler Twoomey Barrett; her sister: Lily McKinley of Newburgh, New York; and, her brother: Denis O'Keeffe of New Windsor, New York.

A public viewing will take place from 05:00 to 07:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 in Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Incorporated, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg.

Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 305 N. Prince Street, Shippensburg with Father Dwight Schlaline officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will immediately follow the services.
