Emily Wasserman Sanders

Emily Wasserman Sanders, of Owings Mills, MD passed away on August 28, 2019 at the age of 57.
Born in Baltimore in 1962, she grew up in Pikesville attending Pikesville High School before graduating from Towson State College. Emily met her beloved husband of 33 plus years, Allan Sanders, at Gordon's of Pikesville. She was a carryout girl and he was a waiter, and they were married on October 6, 1985.
Emily went on to work for Verizon, Inc. where she just celebrated her 35th work anniversary. She loved her coworkers, held annual pool parties with her team, and was a perfectionist in her and her teams work. She had numerous awards and accomplishments during her career.
Family, the Orioles, and dogs occupied her time outside of work. She was involved with the Lab Rescue for several years and took her dog to visit nursing homes. She was the Orioles two-millionth fan back in 1983 and loved the team to this day. However, the most important thing to Emily was her family. She was especially proud of her two sons, Brett and Evan, and was very happy when they both married great women. Then came her first grandchild, Penelope Elizabeth on February 27, 2019, and she was thrilled. Emily was a fantastic cook, and even when she changed to a plant-based diet in the last couple of years, she would always make something for Allan that he would enjoy.
Emily is survived by her devoted husband, Allan Sanders, sons, Brett Matthew (Sandy) Sanders and Evan Jay (Danielle) Sanders, mother, Muriel Wasserman, siblings, Ina Schumer and Larry (Miriam) Wasserman, and one granddaughter, Penelope Elizabeth. She was predeceased by her father, Morton Wasserman.

Services at SOL LEVINSON & BROS., INC., 8900 Reisterstown Road, at Mount Wilson Lane on Thursday, August 29, at 12 pm. Interment Baltimore Hebrew Cemetery - Berrymans Lane.
Please omit flowers.
Contributions in her memory may be sent to the GBMC Foundation, 6701 N. Charles St., Towson, MD 21204, or the Labrador Retriever Rescue of the Mid Atlantic, P.O. Box 246, Palmyra, PA 17078.
