20 July 1881 :
Calib Rippetoe, one of the first settlers of Colchester, died at his residence in this town about 10 a.m. yesterday. Several months ago he got hurt on the dump at shaft No. 14 where he was at work and it was from the effects of this hurt that he died. He will be buried at what is known as the Barber Grave Yard today. Mr. Rippetoe was a very highly respected member of our town ; had filled many responsible positions and leaves a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his loss.

Rippetoe, Calip one of the first settlers of Colchester, died at his residence in that town yesterday. Buried in the Barber graveyard today.
