Steve, a United States Army Veteran and retiree from the Department of Public Service, Highway Patrol Division, was born January 13, 1946 and went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2019. Steve will be missed by his sisters Janice Rathburn (Al Logan) of Grove City, Ohio, and Rickie Kay Longfellow (Dale Longfellow) of Galloway, Ohio; aunts, uncles, cousins; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and special cousins, Bonnie Lane of Logan, Ohio, and Catherine Tichy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; special aunt, Deborah Rutherford of Pataskala, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kaye Rutherford (Feb. 6, 1949-October 19, 1998) of Columbus; his mother, Mildred Emmaline Rutherford (1927-2007) of Chillicothe, Ohio, and stepfather, Robert Vaughn (1930-2001) of West Virginia; an infant sister, Teresa Rutherford (1944-1944) his maternal grandparents, Carwin Vause Rutherford (1904-1991) and Sarah Speakman Rutherford (1908-1984) both of Chillicothe, Ohio. Steve a singer, sung with several groups in the Columbus area such as The Confederate Railroad. He used the stage name Steve Rudy. He wrote and recorded songs, with at least one 45rpm copy of his record, Carolyn, I Love You and I Need You existing. Steve was a former President of the County & Western Music Association, Columbus, Ohio. He also enjoyed writing short stories. Steve will be very missed by all of us who loved him and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, his friendship and his love of life.
