Leroy Schrader
Leroy Schrader, 77, of Wakeman, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at his home. Born in Cleveland, he had lived in Kipton before moving to Wakeman in 1973. Mr. Schrader was a veteran of the Navy and was a member of the Wakeman American Legion. He worked for 30 years as a window cleaner in Cleveland and had owned his own business, Nu-Lite Window Cleaning. Following that, he worked in maintenance at Oberlin College and for the last 11 years he had been a greeter at the Norwalk Wal-Mart. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working at Wal-Mart. Survivors include his wife, Marie (nee Buck); daughters Sandra Fields of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Debra Noftz, of Attica; sons Gerald Schrader, of Lexington, Ky., and Thomas Schrader of LaGrange; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Schroeder of Longview, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Flora (nee Pearson) Schrader; his foster parents, who raised him, Gerald and Pauline Ross; a daughter, Kathleen Puder; a sister, Martha Andrews; and a half-sister, Adella Mitchell. Friends may call 1 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. services at Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman. Burial will follow at Camden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870; Friends of Wakeman Library, Box 217, Wakeman, OH 44889; or to Wakeman American Legion, 68 Hyde St., Box 252, Wakeman, OH 44889.
