Graveside services for Mr. Norris Augustus Roberts, 77, of Tulsa, OK formerly of West Monroe, LA will be 3:00 PM Saturday September 30, 2006 at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA with Rev. Dennis Anger officiating. Norris Augustus Roberts began his last flight when he soared to Heaven above his earthly ties on Sunday September 24, 2006 at 10:50 AM.

This beloved husband, father, and grandfather was born in Olla, LA. on February 27, 1929, to Thomas Penick Roberts and Pearl Estelle Zeagler. Norris was one of eleven children and is survived by two sisters and one brother, Margaret Roberts Rice and Marjorie Roberts Hymer, and Henry (Hank) Roberts. At the early age of seventeen, Norris helped his father with the design and the laying of the foundation for Cypress Street Church of God in West Monroe, LA. In 1954, Norris married Mattie Jean Bullock in Ferriday, LA. He fathered three children: Jerianne Roberts Showalter, John Bertrand Roberts, and Mark Douglas Roberts. He was a beloved grandfather to Jerod Noble Showalter, Jacob Norris Showalter, Jennifer Marie Roberts, Mark Douglas Roberts II., and David Thomas Roberts. He called his great granddaughter Blythe Nobel Showalter "Sweet One."

Norris was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School, U. S. Naval Aviation School, Louisiana State University (B.S.), and the University of Tulsa (M.S.) A registered Professional Engineer in Indiana, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, he originated design on aircraft engines, Minuteman missile, and the Apollo space project. He also dedicated many years designing for the Oil and Gas industry. He belonged to two distinguished Navy groups: The Flying Midshipmen and U.S. Hurricane Hunters. Prior to retiring in 1991, Norris traveled extensively to England, Holland, Egypt, Poland, and Romania, all trips connected to the Oil and Gas Industry. A fifty year (50) member of the A.S.M.E., he served many years on the High Pressure Technology Committee and helped write the Codes and Standards currently used Worldwide.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Saturday until 1:00 PM Saturday September 30, 2006 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA and again after the funeral ceremony the family will visit with friends at the Cypress Street Church of God in West Monroe, LA in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to the Cypress Street Church of God in honor of Norris.
