Mrs. Mary Cady, Platte Center, Dies Today
Mrs. Mary Cady, 81, of Platte Center, passed away at 2:30 a.m. today at her home, following a week's illness.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's church in Platte Center with Fr. Martin Brady, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's Catholic cemetery at Shell Creek.
As Mary Roddy, she was born in January 1866, in Ireland and came to America with her cousins in 1888. She came to Humphrey, Nebr., and made her home with her uncle, Roger Brehemy until her marriage to Joe Cady in April 1895. They made their home on a farm in O'Kay township and in 1918, moved to Platte Center to since reside.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and a member of St. Annes Society.
Mrs. Cady was preceded in death by her husband who died 18 years ago and one daughter, Margaret. She is survived by a son, John of Platte Center, a step-daughter, Sister Mary Cady of Sacred Heart Convent, Lake Forest, Ill., two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Noonan, and Mrs. R. E. Reilly of Chicago, Ill., a brother, Pat Roddy, of Cornlea and six grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Gahan Funeral home from Sunday evening until Tuesday morning when it will be taken to Platte Center for the services.
Relatives and friends will pray the rosary at 8 o'clock, Monday evening at the Gahan Funeral home.

Noonan, Cornlea; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Noonan of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. John Noonan, Cornlea; Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Stevens and family, Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. James Dunn and family, Columbus; Mrs. James Sullivan, Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sheridan and family, Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Nansel, Genoa; Mr. and Mrs. John Kramer, Genoa; Henry Smith, Omaha; and Mrs. Charley Duskie and son, Columbus. Friends that attended the services were Oscar Jones, Omaha; Clinton Jones, Omaha; Newton Jones, Columbus; Mrs. Anne Sheridan, Columbus; Mrs. Diana McPhillip, Lindsay; Mr. and Mrs. Evan Lloyd, Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Will Nansel, Genoa; and Catharine Reilly, Mrs. Mary V. Gleason, Mrs. W. A. Lohr, and Mrs. Anne Andreasen, all of Columbus. Mrs. Cady is also survived by two brothers, John Rody of Ireland and Martin Rody of Mayo county, Ireland.
