He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Grover Cleveland Whiteside; grandmother, Katie Whiteside; mother, Evelyn Whiteside; father-in-law, Bill Pritchard; mother-in-law, Geraldine Pritchard; and many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Pritchard Whiteside of Cordova, TN; one son, John David Whiteside of Kirksey, KY; one daughter, Jill Whiteside (Stan) Pounds of Bartlett, TN; and five grandchildren Claire Whiteside, Philip Pounds, Mack Whiteside, John Pounds, and Katie Pounds.
David owned and operated West Kentucky Carpet on Paducah Road in Mayfield. He thoroughly enjoyed working on his farmland and racing horses. He loved to travel in western and northwestern United States with his family. He loved his family deeply. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ on Housman Street in Mayfield. He was also a U.S. National Guard veteran.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Byrn Funeral Home on Paris Road in Mayfield. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Byrn Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
