Lester H. Miller, age 92, of Huntsville, Ohio passed away at 9:10 P.M. Sunday, August 25, 2019 at his residence.

He was born in Weston, Ohio January 11, 1927, to the late Verlie A. and Pearl Verna (Rutter) Miller. Lester was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael L. Miller and David A. Miller; a granddaughter, Brenda Sue Miller; a brother, Richard “Dick” R. Miller and sisters, Chloetta Sayre Shackleford, Lavetta Sayre, Bonnie June Miller, Ramona Simonis, and Beverly Howard.

On February 14, 1946, he married Thelma Louise (Everly) Miller and she survives. He is also survived by a son, L. Steven (Sharon) Miller of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; his daughters, Sharon K. (Larry “Butch”) Thomas, and Peggy J. (Rodney) Burnside, both of Huntsville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Miller of Bellefontaine; fifteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; eighteen great-great grandchildren; a brother, William R. Miller of Carey, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.

Lester was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He worked for Swan Rubber in Carey, Ohio for 15 ½ years and from 1956 to 1965, he owned and operated Miller Scrap Iron in rural Upper Sandusky. In 1965, Lester moved to Huntsville and continued his scrap metal business till 2014, working at H.K. Porters. Lester attended the Gretna Brethren Church and was a member of the Bellefontaine American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, playing his harmonica, listening to gospel music and repairing toys. Lester loved to tinker and play Santa Claus for so many families and friends in Logan County. For twenty seven years, Lester and his wife Thelma loved to take their motor home and travel the county. All who knew and loved Lester will miss him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Pastor Rob Starnes will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
