Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Glenda; seven children, Candace (James) Nienstedt, Valarie Newman, David (Denise) Newman, Deborah (Doug) Teller, Judie (Tim) Palacios, Beth Stemen and April (Michael) Brown; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren and one sister, Caddie Wilmshurst.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; one brother, Roger Newman and his beloved dog, Samantha.
Jerry served our country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Hanover American Legion Post and a Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Traverse City. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling around, especially by motorcycle.
At his request cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service with military honors to honor his life will be held at the McNair Cemetery in Pulaski Township on Friday, August 30, 2019 beginning at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, friends and family who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
