Jerry Ray Newman of Hanover, Michigan passed away on August 24, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 29, 1933 in Charlotte, Michigan to Stanley and Marguerite (Chevelier) Newman.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Glenda; seven children, Candace (James) Nienstedt, Valarie Newman, David (Denise) Newman, Deborah (Doug) Teller, Judie (Tim) Palacios, Beth Stemen and April (Michael) Brown; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren and one sister, Caddie Wilmshurst.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; one brother, Roger Newman and his beloved dog, Samantha.
Jerry served our country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Hanover American Legion Post and a Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Traverse City. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling around, especially by motorcycle.
At his request cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service with military honors to honor his life will be held at the McNair Cemetery in Pulaski Township on Friday, August 30, 2019 beginning at 11:00 A.M.
