Jay Gordon Allen, 73, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019, in Sugar Land. He was born November 17, 1945 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Leland Dwayne and Iris Florence Allen. Jay was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired as a professional driver.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruby LaVerne Allen.;, 2 sons, Rene Allen and Robin Allen.;, 2 step-. sons, Coy Woodrow Nowell and wife, Susan, Woodrow Coy Nowell.;, daughter, Ruby Johnson and husband, Phillip.;, 3 brothers, Randy Allen, Ian Allen and wife, Rene, Bryn Allen.;, sister, Wendy Allen; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Iris Florence Allen.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at Houston National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 3-6 P.M. in the Stateroom at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home.
