Wife: Margaret Eliza J. Morr.

Children:
1- Martha Alice Odom (1874-1939) married William Ellison Eller (1876-1959).
.. 11 children.
2- James Asbury Odom (1877- ) married Mary Sisom (1879- ).
.. 4 children.
3- William Avery Odom (1879-1924) married Sarah A. J. Self (1878- ).
4- Georgia Ann Odom (1887-1943) married Wade Hampton Godfrey (1877-1954).
.. 6 children.

William L. Y. Odom was born in 1854 in Union County, Georgia, the eldest child of John Jackson Odom and Mary Ann Harriet Sullivan. He worked alongside his brothers on the family farm until 1874 when he married Elisa J. Morr from Union County. Elisa was born in Monroe County, Tennessee.

In 1880, William and Eliza were living in Upper Young Cane, Union County and they had three children. The census record shows that he was farming. William moved his family to Polk County, Tennessee before 1900 and began working in the copper mines. All their children were born by 1887. The 1910 census record shows William living in McCaysville, Fannin County, Georgia. He was 55 years old and was still working in the copper mines and living on a rented farm. In 1920, William was a widower living in McCaysville with his daughter Georgia Godfrey and her husband Wade Godfrey. William was retired from the mines by that time.

Eliza probably died between 1910 and 1920 in McCaysville. William died in 1922 in McCaysville. Some family sources say that William was buried in Isabella, Polk County, Tennessee, but William's death certificate gives his burial location as Blue Ridge, Georgia. The person recording the death certificate started to write what looks like "Harm" for the burial location before crossing that out and writing "Blue Ridge, Ga", so it is possible that the burial was in Blue Ridge, Georgia in a location other than Harmony Baptist Cemetery. The informant recorded on the death certificate was William's son-in-law W. H. Godfrey.
