ALBANY Teresa (Morone) Copeland, 79, died September 9, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn of coronary heart disease. She was a lifelong resident of Albany, born June 16, 1931, daughter of Phyllis (Ariz.) and the late Henry Morone. Teresa attended St. Teresa of Avila Grammar School, Vin-centian Institute (graduated 1948) and Saint Rose and Siena College (graduated in 1956 with an English major). Teresa is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, William H. Copeland Sr., whom she married on April 22, 1957 at St. Teresa's on Easter Monday. Nicknamed "Tessie the Typist," she worked at the State Education Department before graduating college. She then taught 4th grade at St. Teresa's Grammar School. After spending many years as a homemaker, lovingly raising her children, Teresa did substitute teaching for the Albany Public Schools and worked at Albany Educational TV during the 1980s. An avid and tireless volunteer, Teresa helped usher for NYSTI and Proctor's Theatre (29 years), Albany Food Pantry, ran a student exchange program (to France and Peru), conducted a soap drive for South Vietnamese people during the Vietnam War (collecting two tons of soap), PTAs for School #19, Hackett and Albany High School, cookie mother for Girl Scouts, St. Catherine of Siena Eucharist minister and taught religious education at St. Teresa's. An active woman, Teresa was a member of many organizations, including the Foundation for International Cooperation (FIC). In 1964, she traveled to France, Belgium, England, Italy and Monaco to promote FIC. She was also a member of the Christian Family Movement (at St. Vincent's and St. Teresa's), the Italian American Community Center, Albany Institute of Art, the Italian American Heritage Museum, Vanguard, University Club, Siena Alumni Association and pro-adoption groups. She is survived by her beloved husband, William H. Copeland Sr.; two brothers, Dr. Ralph (Trudy) Morone of Ariz. and John (Margaret) Morone of Calif.; and one sister, Marylyn (George) Bonville of N.C. Teresa is also survived by two daughters, Dr. Terese Copeland of Wilton, N.Y. and Cynthia (Douglas) Sturges of Glenmont, N.Y.; and one son, William H. (Lisa) Copeland Jr. of Mass. Teresa took great delight in her four grandchildren, Christopher and David Copeland, and Kayla and Matthew Sturges. Teresa is survived by her aunts, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Guyton Morone. The ultimate family communicator, Teresa maintained a deep interest in the lives of all family and extended family members. She loved "catching up" at family events. She also maintained numerous and treasured friendships. She was a good and admirable woman and will be sadly missed by all she touched, who witnessed her zest for life and belief in living life to its fullest. The family would like to thank St. Peter's ICU, Brady Farrell Wing, Hospice and Respiratory Staff at St. Peter's, Pulmonary & Critical Care Services, Albany Associates in Cardiology and Prime Care Physicians, who combined, helped to extend her life, allowing her to enjoy many family milestones. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at the Magin & Keegan Funeral Home , 891 Madison Ave., Albany, N.Y.
