“Mighty” Max Smith, 2, of Alpena passed away unexpectedly, on Friday May 31, 2019 at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. Even though he was only here for a short time “Mighty Max” touched the lives of all who knew him. On Oct. 6, 2016 Chris and Sara (Ewell) Smith were blessed with the birth of their son Max Xavier Smith in Alpena, MI. Shortly after his birth Max was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a rare form of cancer. Even while battling this disease, Max made everyday full of fun, love, and memories.
Max loved going on special trips with his family. He also enjoyed watching many different children’s shows, and everything Marvel. His favorite characters were the Hulk and Groot. His favorite movies were The Hulk and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Max is survived by his parents, Chris and Sara Smith, grandparents, James (Darlene) Smith, Mary Ewell, and James (Denise) Ewell, two Aunts, Candi (Steven) Kortman and Breanna (Aaron Haskins) Smith, an uncle James Ewell, and cousin Alexa Sherwood.
