William Ray Rutledge was born December 7th, 1942 in Fort Dodge, IA to Joseph and Virginia Rutledge. He attended school and graduated from Goldfield in 1961. He attended Iowa State and took classes through ICCC. He married the love of his life Julia Amosson on January 8th, 1965 in Eagle Grove, IA. He held a few jobs that moved the couple around, settling in Eagle Grove. He was then a long time employee of Boone Valley and stayed through the many transitions finally retiring at the ethanol plant. During those years the couple had three children-Aaron, Heather, and Vaughna.

He was an active member of the Methodist church and choir in Eagle Grove. He was in many of the Paddlewheel productions which he loved. He had the voice of an angel.

Bill was an intelligent, thoughtful, and kind man that would strike up a conversation with everyone. He had a great sense of humor that you could see shine through until the the last of his days.

Although we have lost another piece of our hearts, we know he will be doing all the things he loved with strength beside Julia.

Bill passed with his family by his side at Windsor Manor in Webster City, IA where he resided for the last year.
Bill is survived by son Aaron (Wanda) Rutledge; daughter Heather( Marc) Hutchinson; daughter Vaughna (Thom) Rethman; grandchildren- Jon, Alex, Beth, Tiffany, TC, Tabitha, Brandon (Aaron/Wanda); Brant (Heather/Marc); Darian, Alix, Connor, Noah (Vaughna/Thom) and 13 great grandchildren; sister Mary Jo(Jose) Anaya; Christey Jean (Mike) Hurley; brother-in-law Steve(Maggie) Amosson and sister-in-law Lynne (Wayne) Jennings. He was preceded in death by his wife Julia; both sets of parents; brother-in-law Jose Anaya; brother/sister-in-law Jerry and Connie Amosson; brother-in-law David Amosson.
