Ben Franklin McCollough SR. Was Deputy Sheriff of Manchester Tenn. He married Mattie Jane Floyd june 7,1908. He was survived by wife Mattie Jane Floyd McCollough and 12 children when he was killed by a chain gang prisoner that was allowed to go inside his home to change clothes.

But came out with a gun and opened fired shooting Ben in the side. Taking his life. The prisoner (Gene Floyd) was in jail for 10 days for stealing corn. Was to be released in couple days. Ben was 52 years old when he was shot and killed.

Ben had the biggest funeral ever held that day in Manchester, Tennessee. He was killed August 10, 1935 About a 1000 people attended his funeral.

His Wife Mattie Jane Floyld McCollough, His sons are Ladd, B.F, J.W, John Daniel,daughters Siba, Peggy, Callie, Modean, Bobby,and Ethel, Earline, And Lena Pearl.
