Mr. Henry Earl Edwards, age 90, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Lumberton Health & Rehabilitation Center with family by his side. He was born on February 26, 1929 in Robeson County to the late James Vernon Edwards and the late Annie Davis Edwards.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon retiring from the military, he worked as a chemist and radiologist and later he became an insurance salesman. He was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lumberton and served as Secretary & Treasurer for many years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered for the gigantic way he touched many lives.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Janie “Jan” Rowell Edwards; two children, Wayne Owens and Diane Owens; a brother, James Evan Edwards; and two sisters, Mary Newman and Betty Jo Edwards.

He is survived by one daughter, Jackie Britt and husband Leonard of Lumberton; six grandchildren: Janice Denise James and husband Don “Scooter”, Sara “Becky” Norton and husband Les, Mark Floyd; Billy Cook and wife Selena, Kevin Rexrode and wife Sheena, and Amy Bethea and husband Bud; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Ray Edwards of Lumberton and Harold Dean Edwards of Hattiesburg, MS; and one sister, Dorothy Pittman of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 3:00-4:00 PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the church at 4:00 PM. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
