Charles Huffman, 81, of 325 Evergreen street, died about 3:30 a.m. today at University hospital in Iowa City.
The son of Tyler and Mary Ann Huffman, he was born September 9, 1876, near Lockridge.
The body was returned to the Community funeral home here awaiting completion of arrangements.

Funeral services for Charles A. Huffman, 81, of 325 Evergreen street, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Community funeral home. The Rev. Roscoe Morrison will be in charge. Burial will be in McCormick cemetery near Highland Center. Neighbors will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Huffman was born September 9, 1876 in Henry county and was the son of Tyler and Mary Ann Huffman. He grew up near Lockridge and Rome. He was married in 1905 to Maude Piper who died in 1915. He was married October 28, 1916 to Bessie Jane Gray in Ottumwa who survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Gladys Lane of Milan, Ill., Mrs. Lucille Dennis of Andalusia, Ill., Mrs. Ida Waldron of Arvada, Colo., Mrs. Irene Hodge of Kasson, Minn., Mrs. Isal Van Ausdall of Ft. Madison and Mrs. Pearl Jackson of Burlington; a son, Hubert Huffman of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. Della Smith of Ottumwa; 40 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Besides his first wife he was preceded in death by a son, three sisters and a brother.
