OBITUARY: POMONA, Feb. 16. 1946. "Pomona Mourns Passing of Walter Guerin. An official period of mourning was proclaimed today by Mayor James B. Pettit following the death late last night [Feb 15, 1946] of City Atty. Walter Guerin. He died after a long illness. Mr. Guerin was a former judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. He served in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War and as a judge advocate in World War I. He entered the practice of law in Pomona in 1906 and was elected City Attorney in 1911, serving for 10 years, again holding that office at the time of his death.

Veteran Leader: In July, 1923, he was appointed judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court and was elected to the same office the following year. At one time he served as supreme chancellor of the Knights of Pythias in California. He also was a Past Commander of Pomona Camp, United Spanish-American Veterans.

Mr. Guerin leaves his widow Sally [nee Lowdermilk]; a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Tracy; and a son, Cedric Guerin of Sunset Beach. Funeral services will be conducted at the Blackman Funeral Home, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Harry G. Earle, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, officiating.
