Sam was a well known and successful Cigar Shop owner, Bar owner, a volunteer firefighter with the Pioneer Hose Company 1 in Phoenix AZ, and considered a 'pioneer' of the city. He traveled the world for pleasure and business in acquiring tobacco.
1891, married Maude G Snively in Kansas. They had at least 2 children, 'infant' and 'Bessie'. Both died young and are buried in the old cemetery in Phoenix
1905, Maude died in Phoenix of a 3 day fever borne illness and is buried there, with their daughters
1909, he traveled to DC/VA and witnessed 2 of the Wright brothers experimental airplane flights, possibly the Kitty Hawk.
1910, married Alma L (Hill) Perkins in Phoenix, (she was the daughter of Phoenix Pioneer HA Hill). They had at least 2 children, Arline 'Sammie', and step daughter Winona E Perkins 'Seip' (1/11/1904-1/1971 CA)
1919, he and Alma moved to California, but returned to Phx occasionally.
1953, he died in his daughter's home in Glenn Ellen, CA and services were held a few days later at Kingsley & Gates Mortuary/ Chapel.
