OBITUARY - Dr. P.H.Muus Passes Away - After a Lingering illness with complication of Diseases at his home on Grace Street. Was one of the City's Able Physicians. Has Practiced in Albert Lea for Five Years.
The son of Rev. Bernt J. Muus, the well known pastor and founder of St. Olaf's at Northfield, was born in Kenyon, Minnesota, December 14, 1874. He received his education at home from his parents and from private tutors until he entered St. Olaf's from which he graduated in the summer of 1896.
He then began the study of theology at the United Church seminary in St. Paul for one year, but on account of throat trouble was compelled to turn his attention to the study of medicine, taking four years' course in the Hamline University, from which he graduated with distinction in 1901 and took up practice in Kensington, Minnesota, where he labored until September 1908, when he moved his family to Albert Lea. In 1905, he was elected mayor of Kensington.
On September 25, 1900 he was united in marriage to Leonara Marie Rushfeldt of this city who, with two children Virgil Hermann and Virginia Marie, survives him.
Everything possible was done for him in his last illness. A specialist from Minneapolis was called, but could give no relief.
He passed peacefully away on the evening of Tuesday, August 12th and he will be laid to rest Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home, 508 Grace street. He was an able physician and will be missed by many friends.
