Georgie Belle Ward, 81, of the 5100 block of Portsmouth Boulevard, died on Wednesday March 10, 1993 at her home. A native of Chowan County, N.C., she was the wife of Elmer K. Ward. She was retired as a lab technician from Planters Peanuts in Suffolk and was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church in Driver. Survivors include three sisters, Pattie Wood of Elizabeth City, N.C., Myrtle Baggett and Virginia Prescott, both of Suffolk. A funeral will be held on Friday March 12, 1993 at 1 p.m. in Holly Lawn Cemetery by Rev. Frank Carter. Burial will take place in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home Chapel on Portsmouth Boulevard on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Program at Maryview Medical Center 3636 High Street in Portsmouth. Sturtevant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
