Donald D. Bone, age 94 of Greenville, passed away at 10:26 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Darryl Bolen officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donald DeWitt, the son of Roy E. Bone and Dorothy Peterson Bone, was born December 14, 1922 in Greenville. He was raised in Mulberry Grove and Greenville. Early in Life Don served at the C.C.C. camp helping the country come out of the great depression. Don was drafted by the St. Louis Brown's farm team but injured his ankel and his baseball career was ended.

Don joined the United States Army on February 11, 1943 at Scott Field and served overseas in the Aleutian Islands, during WWII. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 overseas service bars, the Good Conduct Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star. He was honorably discharged from his years of service on June 13, 1955. Don worked for the Rail Road in Track up keep, then was a construction laborer out of the Labor Hall until his retirement.

Don and Donna Ruth Oray were united in marriage on November 1, 1965 at the Pocahontas Methodist Church and are the parents of four children, three of whom survive: Elizabeth Mae 'Liz' Shaw of Greenville, Cindy Lynn (Doyle) Bohannon of Greenville, Lisa Jane (Daniel) Taylor of Forsyth, MO, 6 grandchildren: Jeffery Jernigan, Christina Jernigan, Travis Shaw, Trevor Shaw, Lane Bohannon, Makayla Bohannon, one great-grandson Wesley Shaw, and his brother Robert Bone of Smithboro.

Don is preceded in death by his son Brian Lee Bone age 3 months old, his parents, sisters Nellie Maroon, Virginia in infancy, and brothers: Raymond Bone, William Roy Bone, Walter Frank Bone, and Charles Bone Sr.
