William "Bob" Abbott Jr.
DECEMBER 4, 1946 – AUGUST 15, 2019

William R. “Bob” Abbott, Jr, age 72, passed away on August 15, 2019. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 4, 1946, and moved to Dallas at age 3.

He is survived by wife Judy of 43 years, his twin sons; Aaron and wife Andrea, David and wife Magaly, his grandchildren; Adley and Alec, Lucas, Brooklynn, and John, brothers; Barry and wife Gladys, Tom and wife Linda, sisters; Pam and husband Gene, and Rosemary. Bob is also survived by 3 nieces and 7 nephews with multiple great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Peggy and her husband Marvin, and his Father Wm. R “Bob” Sr. and wife Elsie.

Bob graduated Samuell High School in 1965, and joined the U.S Navy in 1967 where he became a Medical Corpsman. He served on the USS Hunley and in Vietnam with the Marine Corp Seabee Battalion. After discharge he attended a Respiratory Therapy program and started working in local hospitals.

In 1974 he met Judy while working at Doctors Hospital; the two married on May 1, 1976. Bob retired from Baylor Hospital of Garland after 33 years of services. On August 21, 1979, they had twin boys. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 from East Texas State University. The boys kept him busy with all the sports played and Boy scouts. They graduated and married and our family started to grow. Our boys had baby boys a month apart, and now 6 years later we now finally have a baby girl born last December. He loved wearing his shirt that read, “Grandpa is the name spoiling is the game”, which he did.

He loved to fish but would not eat fish. He did pass on the love to fish to his sons, and got to spend time watching his grandsons catch some too. Bob liked the family to get together to watch football and baseball games while cooking and eating. When he retired he would watch every golf match from start ‘til finish. He never shared the love to play golf as his wife did, but supported her to do so. Plus, he loved all the wonderful friends she made while playing. The bonus for him was that they were all great cooks and would send goodies home to him. He would always make his famous sausage balls and have Judy given to her golf friends and fellow co-workers.

Bob loved animals. He grew up with cats, but after marrying Judy, who had two large German Shepherds, he grew to love dogs. Over the years the two rescued a few more.

Bob was a loyal husband, father, brother, and most of all he loved being Pappy. He will be missed. Keep him in your prayers.
