DOVIE JEAN SIMPSON
October 8, 1932 ~ August 19, 2019

Funeral services for Dovie Jean Simpson will be held at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 10:00 am., with Louis Walker and John Pennell officiating; burial will follow at the Shoat Springs Cemetery in Hugo, OK. Dovie went to be with her Lord on August 19, 2019, in Hugo, OK at the age of 86.

Dovie Jean Simpson was born on October 8, 1932, to Leonard and Leacie (Himes) Nation, in Frogville, OK. She had lived in the Frogville area most of her life and was a homemaker.

Dovie was a member of the Shoals Baptist Church. She loved gardening, canning, quilting, cooking, reading, and busy work. Dovie loved watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Dovie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Richard “Dick” Simpson; two brothers; two sisters; and grandson, John Walker.

Dovie is survived by her sons, Dickie Simpson and wife, Jessie of Ft. Towson, Ok and Paul “Randy” Simpson and wife, Tammy of Ft. Towson, OK; daughters, Glenda Walker and husband, Louis of Grand Prairie, TX, Sharon Pennell and husband, John of Hugo, OK and Terri Jones and husband, Rodney of Hugo, OK; brother, Vernon Nation of Lawton, OK; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on, Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Prater- Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.

*I remember when I was very young going to visit my grand parents Minnie and John Simpson. They lived down from Dovie and Dick. The reason, I remember them is because they ran a saw mill. We would always go and play in it no matter how hot it was. I am E. Y and Hulen Throne's daughter. I am sending prayers to the family.
