Bettye Ellen Smith, age 87, passed away peacefully with family on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in Indianapolis. She was born on June 1, 1932.
Bettye was a proud military wife, mother and grandmother. She was Vice County Chairwoman of the Republican Party of Vigo County for many years. She was also the manager of the Vigo County BMV and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Bettye is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Louis Smith Jr., her parents, brothers; Hoover Barnett Jr., Jack Barnett, Michael Barnett and Terry Barnett.
Bettye is survived by her children; Michael Smith of Newport Beach, CA, Lisa Smith of Indianapolis, IN, Lynn (Lee) Mankin of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Aaron (Kristy) Morgan of Cory, IN, Leigh, Rosalyn & Maxwell Smith of Salt Lake City, UT; great-grandchildren A.J. Morgan, Keegan and Kane Skinner of Cory, IN; sister, Barbara (Bill) Winstead; brother, Gary (Connie) Barnett as well as many other loved nieces & nephews; and her beloved dog, Boze.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. (CDT) Saturday August 24 at St. Clement Catholic Church, 422 E. Sycamore St. Boonville. Visitation Friday (TODAY) from 3 to 7 pm at BRADLEY’S COLONIAL CHAPEL, 1005 E. Main St. Boonville, IN 47601 and 1 hour before mass at Church. Private family Interment at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
