He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Shangri-La during the Vietnam War. Phillip worked at UPS and retired after 25 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 245 in Ellettsville, The Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and The Odd Fellows Lodge in Ellettsville. Phillip loved his community and was a member of the Ellettsville Town Council and Planning Commission. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bloomington.
Phillip is survived by his sons, Dean Rogers of Ellettsville, Troy (Maria) Rogers of Spencer and Tyler Rogers of Ellettsville; grandchildren, Justin Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Damon Rogers, Kiersten Rogers, Zack Rogers, Connor Rogers, Allyna Rogers, and Koen Rogers; great-grandchildren Victor Rogers and Ragan Rogers and mother of the boys, Sharon Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Rogers; father, Warren Rogers; wife, Debra Sue (Narey) Rogers and brother, Larry Rogers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer with the Monroe County Honor Guard providing military honors. Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home
