Mr. Barnhart was a son of Lilbour and Lena Barnhart. He was first a devoted family man who left a Godly legacy. He was kindhearted and very friendly and a board member at the Assembly of God for many years.
He was a heavy equipment operator who built many of the roads around Casa Grande and surrounding areas. He earlier served in the Army during World War II and was a machine gunner. He was a POW and a Purple Heart recipient for wounds received in action. He also received two Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty; three sons: Roger Barnhart, of Snowflake, Anthony Barnhart, of Casa Grande, and Rick Barnhart, of Casa Grande; daughter, Rebecca Busboom, of Gilbert; a sister, Maryanne Stokes; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, with service at 10 at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with Pastor Naomi Hulsey officiating.
Burial in Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana.
