A Meriden construction worker was killed when the trench in which he was working on Conwell Rd. caved in and crushed him tom death. Jose A. Rivera, 30, of 1957 N. Broad St., was pronounced dead on arrival at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital. He was employed by N. Biafore and Sons Construction Co. Born in Puerto Rico, he had resided in Middletown for eight years before moving to Meriden five years ago. He was a parishioner of the Church of St. Rose.
