Richard Bradley McCall, 81, of Avon, joined his beloved wife, the late Maureen (Silver) McCall, in heaven, Friday, August 16, 2019, with his daughter and grandsons by his side.
He was born in Hartford on July 2, 1938 to the late Harold and Henrietta (Saunders) McCall.
Richard was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of St. Augustine and Bulkeley High School.
He moved his family to Avon from Hartford in 1970.
He was an active communicant of the Church of Saint Ann and member of the Glastonbury Irish American Society and The Ancient Order of Hibernians, America's oldest Irish Catholic Fraternal Organization.
After graduation, he attained the rank of Sergeant in the Connecticut Air National Guard, also served in the Air Force Reserves, and then became a Police Officer with West Hartford Police Department.
Richard had 43 years of service working for the State of Connecticut.
His career began working for the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Consumer Protection.
Much of his career was what he had passion for as a Handicapped Driver Training Consultant for the Department of Motor Vehicles.

After "retirement" Richard continued his work at Easter Seals CT/RI and Gaylord Hospital of Rehabilitation.
Richard was heavily involved with the Democratic Party for the State of Connecticut.
He was recognized by Governors Meskill, Grasso, and O'Neil for his work with the State of Connecticut Handicapped Driver Training Program.
He was also awarded the Nutmeg Award by Governor William O'Neil.

He is survived by his daughter Erin McCall of Avon; grandsons Connor and Ryan Goldie; and his brother, Donald P. McCall (Cynthia) of Rocky Hill.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brother Harold F. McCall, Jr., sister Joan M. Taylor, and brother-in-law Robert Silver.

His family will receive friends at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, Avon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of Saint Ann, Avon.
Burial with military honors will follow at St. Ann Cemetery.
