John worked various jobs throughout his lifetime, restaurant manager, Best Western Rome Inn maintenance and his most recent employment was managing a cleaning service company in Salt Lake City.
During his youth John was a hunter and he enjoyed running rivers with his grandfather on the Green River. John was a lover of animals. Throughout his childhood he would care for many animals, including snakes, a turtle, cats, dogs, bunnies, and chickens, as well as the occasional spider.
John was known for his wit and making people laugh and to feel at ease and accepted. John centered his life on his family and friends. He enjoyed being with loved ones; dancing, movie watching, playing games, or just hanging out.
John loved music, especially the music of Blondie (Debbie Harry). John met Debbie Harry years ago after a concert and it was one of his favorite life experiences.
John is survived by his parents, and his two sisters, Lori (Strong) Matteis, Cheryl Strong-McDonald (Darrell). He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held for family and friends at the Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00 am
