Thelma Mardell Bryant, age 91, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at St John’s Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born on December 9, 1927 in Hardin Township, Pike County to Ira and Thelma Hayden Dyer. She married Joseph E. Bryant in Pittsfield, and he passed away on May 1, 2000.

Mardell was a 1945 graduate of Nebo Community High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a telephone operator and in the business office for General Telephone Company for 37 and a half years. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Mardell enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball and was a lifelong fan.

She is survived by her son, Bruce (Susan) Bryant of Danville, IN; two grandchildren, Katrina (Seth) Pippine and Scott Bryant; six great grandchildren, Ian Bryant, Maxton Bryant, Zane Bryant, Jadyn Ham, Kelsey Ham, Sydney Pippine; siblings, Richard (Norma) Dyer, Patty Wright, Virginia (Gene) Smith, and Darwin (Sharon) Looper, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Sue Dyer; and brother-in-law, Keith Renoud.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bryant; her parents, Ira and Thelma Dyer; step mother, Anna Dyer; brother, Jack Dyer; three sisters, Josephine Benjamin, Carlene Renoud, and La Donna (Guy) Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Interment will follow at Pittsfield West Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Pittsfield West Cemetery or the First Christian Church.
