Mr. Harold William Pearson, Sr., more affectionately known as “Charlie” to his family and friends, age 84, passed away on August 18, 2019, at his home in Lafayette County, Florida. Charlie was born November 19, 1934, in Lafayette County to Barney Law Pearson and Vaye Trawick Pearson. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School. Charlie served in the United States Army for 6 years, including service in Germany. He worked for Buckeye Cellulose in Perry, Florida, for more than 30 years before retiring in 1996 as a planner. He also was a farmer, devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed growing gardens, fishing, traveling, and hunting in Georgia with his family and friends. He was a member of Airline Baptist Church, the Mayo Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Folsom Pearson; his son Harold “Hal” Pearson, Jr., and wife Melissa; his daughter Lynn Pearson Chandler and husband Jason, all of Mayo, FL; one brother, Carroll Pearson, of Gainesville, FL; a sister, Gwynell Pepin, of Griswold, CT; four grandsons, Morgan, Nathan, Seth, and Wyatt; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sara Pearson; and brother, Elva Ray Pearson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Airline Baptist Church with Bro. Fred Edwards and Bro. Preston Gainey officiating. Interment will follow at Airline Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
